St. Patrick's Day trivia...

Did you know that, this year, the Catholic Church officially made an exception to its Lenten Friday meat ban for St. Patrick's Day? Yep, that's right. Apparently, corned beef and other meaty delicacies are too important on this day to give up. That would be like asking them to give up beer for today! Absolutely inconceivable! So I guess Friday fish fry might be moved to Saturday this week... :)

that's awesome! and here's another piece of trivia - i'm 23!!! so happy birthday to me the st patricks day baby. and many thanks to my mom.

i'm not so partial to corn beef, i have to admit. i guess there were too many meals when that was all we had in ghana. american processed balogna is another thing - it was always the cheapest protein we could find.

That's cool, except the Catholics have bastardized the memory of St. Patrick by taking all the pre-schismed multi-cultural churches that were started by the celtic christians, churches that actually had culturally sensitive liturgies, and changed them all to mono-cultural churches based on the latin liturgy of the Roman church. St. Patrick wouldn't even recognize his work today because of the Roman arrogance.

Just a thought I suppose.
